This tour starts from the shore of Stone Town an hour before sunset.
Dhow cruising has become very popular in Zanzibar as the trip offers you an alternative view of Stone Town. From this angle you will be able to imagine how the early sailors felt when they approached Zanzibar under the serenity of sails and the gentle breeze.
After you step onto our local traditional dhow sailing boat, the skilled crew on board take the dhow about 1km away from the shore by means of an engine, once out in the sea the engine is shut off and during a tense moment the skilful crew put up the sail, once the sail is in favor of the wind, the guest can sit back, relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the ocean as you hear the ripple of water on the sides of the dhow as it glides swiftly through the clear turquoise water
The sound of the bustle of busy people in Stone Town grows faint in the distance, until they seem there only in memory. As the dhow sails you will be served sodas & drinking water as well as Zanzibari light snacks. Sink back into the dhow’s seating and enjoy the romance of Africa while the sun sets with its beautiful orange and red colors.
Dhow sunset cruises usually start at 5:00 pm (17h00) from Stone Town beach. We prepare one of our carefully-selected dhows to take you under sail, across the bay and along the beautiful coast off Stone Town, this is a wonderfully way to raise a glass to the end of another glorious day in the tropics.
On board our dhow we have a personal guide who will accompany you on your cruise. They will be able to answer your questions and share a wealth of information about the history and culture of Zanzibar. You will return to shore at 6.30pm (18h30) after the sun has set down already.
